ZigZag Kyiv

Zigzag is a city cafe located on one of Kyiv’s most fashionable streets, which became popular among the local creative community. Zigzag is a symbol, which is widely represented in Ukrainian avant-garde poetry and art. The choice made in favor of this sign is not accidental – by addressing the modernist heritage we wanted to convey the cosmopolitan mood of the times when Ukrainian art was an important part of the European context. This idea is reflected in all components of the place. Zigzag is a very dynamic and energetic place, which turns into a breakfast cafe in the morning, an informal restaurant in the afternoon, and a noisy bar in the evening. While working with space we tried to avoid any strict unified solutions. The interior, which was created in collaboration with the founders, was the result of artistic research and inspiration. A serene warm light, shine of the mirrors, and lacquered furniture immerse in the atmosphere of old Europe, which is unobtrusively complemented by vintage Soviet furniture and decorative elements and decorative elements, appealing to familiar local impressions.
