044 House

044 House is a new residential complex in Podil district in Kyiv, designed by ФОРМА. The project was created on the principles of ecological urban development on the basis of in-depth study of “industrial Podil” and its historical architecture. The conducted research of residential buildings from 1980th, their rhythm, proportions and color scheme, gave an opportunity to develop a balanced design solution. Based on a reasoned and cautious intervention, it excluded pseudo-historicalism and allowed to act more boldly. A distinctive feature of the buildings in the district is the design of the gambles, that emphasize the silhouette of the street and, by intention, should create markers to identify the houses. 044’s facades, which proportions are commensurate with the human’s high, form a comfortable building of the street and a cozy environment of the courtyard. The lack of decor, restraint in color solutions and the minimum amount of finishing materials refer to the industrial architecture of the area.
